Myths,Legends,Fairytales / Using reading stragties

LI: To learn about what Myths,Legends,Fairtales mean.






This week for our reading we learned about what Myths,Legends and Fairy tales are. By that we read articles to find out facts and sentences to know about it. We also used reading stragies to help us stop or think or use something to help us out. For a example the article had words i didn't or have no clue on what it was so then i used Self Monitoring , Self Monitoring means When you don't understand a word or something while your reading look up the word or find a difinition in the dictionary. We used a google slide to list Before,During and after using reading stragies. We also did a venn diagram to list all our facts that we found in myths, Legends and Fairytales. 1 fact about each of the 3 topics. What are Fairytales - Fairytales includes magical creatures and Magical things. What are Myths - Myths can explain mysteries about the supernatural. What do legends do? - Legends are told about real people that actually excist. another fact about Legends that Legends can work for another peson for a really long time. How do they each compare - Myths and Fairytales can include magical creatures. Fairytales Can be based on a true story like legends but , Fantasy. Myths,Fairytales and Legends are all fanciful tales

They are all types of folk lore. Legends are always talking about people , But those people can maybe not excist. During me reading the Articles i used 1 reading Strategie whitch was SELF MONITORING! There were words i couldn't understand like Historical. Historical means history or past events. When i use my reading strategies it helps me have good understanding of the story. Synthesing is gathering information and using your prior knowleged to have a good uderstanding while your reading the story. Questioning - Questioning is asking question from the book or a part of a book. Everybody else knows how to use reading Strategies in Mr wongs Group show us how you use your reading strategies when your stuck on something or what strategie you use when you don't understand anything. Click this link to get a better view or my DLO'S. While me and my partner was reading the 2 articles we got sent back to read again because we put down facts that we didn't know what it mean't. So then me and my partner Fau read the Articles and we actually had an idea to use our Strategies then we got called from our teacher Mr Wong he gave us questions about Myths,Legends and Fairytales. Narrrative planner / Winter Olympics Parody

LI: To write a Narrative using the Winter olympics doing a parody.

Today for Writing we had to do a Kung fu Parody using the Winter olympics as a scene. We used This Narrative Planner to write all our ideas and making it interesting and using Diolouge back and fourth. The amount of actors we had was on 2 actors Whitch was Alayah and Nicole. We just talked about how they were jealous and used Bad Diolouge not really bad ones but ones that can match it.

Kiwi Sport / Swimming

LI: To learn Swimming skills and how to get safely out of the pool.

Today Half of the Ls1 people went out swimming group by group. We splited up into our years and waited til the teacher tells us to get changed into our swimming togs and put our uniform over it. After a while we got told to come back and put our Gear bags where we can get it easly because we were about to leave soon. Then we got into 2 slient lines outside the door then we walked quitely and a form straight line to the office driveway. Then we silently listened to Mr wong because he was telling us Clear instructions to do when we get out of the bus and put our gear bags and shoes where its supposed to be. After that when we got into the pools we had to take off our uniforms that was warn outside our swimming togs we had to put it into our gear bags and sit on the floor when your finished. Then They called out some lesson actions that we didn't know how to do and knew how to do it. I wanted to learn how to the Swimming facing up. Our Swimming teachers wanted us to show what kind of swimming actions we could do so it was a testing lesson. Our Lesson teachers was teaching us 3 skills on how to swim safely in the water. So the first skill we learned was Arms Foward kicking , Our Second skill was Dohlphin dive The very last one we did was Kicking facing up.

Cybersmart / What is Media?

LI: To learn what Media Involes and what it does.

Today for Cybersmart we learned about "What Is Media?" We had to find 2-3 people to work with. I worked  with Charlize to give out our ideas for what is media? One of our ideas were Media can involve Online apps and offline. We had to Brainstorm what we think Media was. All we had to do was think and give out as much ideas we can think of and write it down. We watched a video of what Media is and what Media involes. Media is a whole bunch of sites and apps mixed together. Also the Sites and apps can be different to eachother. You can use Media as Digital and technology devices,Phones or computers. You can learn more about Media by just clicking through our slide.

Maths / Different kinds of Measurement

LI: To measure lengths using Standard and non - Standard units.

This week for Mr wongs maths we did some mearsuring. We had to measure things around the Classroom. We needed to do 10 things measuring aorund the classroom. Non - Standard is where you measure with a whiteboard marker,Duster or your hands. Then you write it down how many Dusters or whatever you use non - standard to measure you equitment. Standard is were you get a ruler and actually find how many cm or mm thier are. One of my Objects was Netbooks Measuring with Non - Standard i used Uni links cube and it was 16 and a bit uni link cubes. Standard was i used the mm ruler to measure so it was 298 mm.
